Nature Education Centre
Environmental education is part of the green package at FRIM. Besides the rainforest trails, the Nature Education Center offers a chance to raise awareness among kids and adults.
These outdoor adventure education activities focus on the tropical rainforest biome and its wonderful animal and plant biodiversity.
Nature outings can last from a day-trip to nearly a week and the NEC arranges all facilities, food and materials for a great jungle escape at FRIM nature landscapes.
NEC Information
Open to public: Monday to FridayFrom 9.00 am – 5.30 pm daily
Others
| Keruing Trail | 30 minutes | An easy stroll with 26 stations that teach about the bark, leaves, buttress and crown of timber tree species |
| Salleh Trail | 45-60 minutes | This path angles up the hill slope and merges with the Keruing Trail before veering downhill towards the Rover Track. Some spots are marked with stations, but its best just to take a camera and find little surprises in the niches. |
| Engkabang Trail | 30 minutes | Starting across from the traditional house and exiting at the Dipterocarp Arboretum, this flat forest path crisscrosses a stream and mushy wetland. |
The Rover Track is the starting place for mountain biking trails. If it's your first time just follow the crowd or return the exact way you came.
Even when you're on a bike trail thrashing over rainforest habitat, wildlife still persists. Sometimes - OK one time - a wild pig bolted out of the woods to snort up a few roots in a nearby agriculture patch. And, if lucky, maybe you'll hear the whoosh-whoosh of hornbills flapping in flight.
